After 50 years, 8,020 games, 2 stadiums, 2 world championships, and 134 pitches thrown last night from Johan Santana, The New York Mets can now add to their history.

Last night, the Mets faced off against the Cardinals and Johan Santana stepped up to the mound to pitch for the Mets. Nobody watching knew what was going to take place. Not even Johan himself knew the magical night he was going to have. Yet, 26 outs and 133 pitches later, on a 3-2 count, Johan threw a changeup to David Freese, the World Series MVP. What followed was an image that will remain etched in every Met fans memory. A swing and a miss and total pandemonium. Johan Santana made history and threw the first no-hitter in Mets history.

It is hard to understand how a team that has had so many great pitchers in their franchise never threw a no-hitter for the Met franchise. Names like: Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, David Cone, Ron Darling, Dwight Gooden, Nolan Ryan, Al Leiter, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, never threw a no-hitter in their careers as a New York Met. Tom Seaver was the closest to achieve the feat and never did complete a no-hitter, until he was traded to the Cincinnati. Who did Seaver face? Funny enough, Seaver threw his first no-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals.

A lot of speculation is being made as to whether or not this no-hitter is tainted. Carlos Beltran, now a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, hit a line drive down the third base line in the bottom of 6th inning. The third base umpire,  Adrian Johnson, ruled it a foul ball and when you see it at first glance, it looked like a foul ball. Upon further review, the replay showed Johnson blew the call and the ball was actually fair, making Beltran’s line drive a hit. Nevertheless, it was called a foul ball and Beltran ended up grounding out to David Wright to start the inning. As a baseball fan, these calls either make you or break you as a fan. When Jim Joyce blew the call at first base that ruined Armando Galarraga’s perfect game, many people were up in arms imploring that the perfect game still be awarded. However, these things happen in sports, especially in baseball. The infamous call in the 1985 World Series cost the St. Louis Cardinals Game 6 and lost in Game 7, making the Kansas City Royals the 1985 World Champions. There is nothing you can do to fix the calls and even the players understand this and one thing to understand, three more innings remained in the game for the Cardinals to get a hit. Johan Santana, going beyond the distance, still kept them without a hit.

What Johan Santana did last night was more than a no-hitter. Santana did not pitch all of last season as he recovered from surgery and has just been dominant the entire year, even though his record does not show for it. He pitched a shutout against the San Diego Padres on Saturday, who are now the only franchise to not have a no-hitter. He went the distance again and reminded all of us how pitchers were back in the old days, throwing as much as they could and as long as they could game after game. Also, Santana did not throw a no-hitter to a weak offense because the St. Louis Cardinals are the number one offense in the National League and are the defending World Champions. Santana threw a no-hitter for a reason and that is because he is what embodies the New York Mets. A pitcher who day in and day out works hard for his team and for the fans. Someone who will do whatever it takes to win even when no one else thinks it is possible.

During the 9th inning while Johan was pitching, SNY panned their cameras to a close up of each New York Met on the field. Lucas Duda mentioned in an article earlier in the week this is a young and hungry team who have gone through the minors and into the majors together, making them like family. The only two former All Star players on that field were Johan Santana and David Wright. The New York Mets have always lived in the shadow of their crosstown rivals, the New York Yankees. This year though, the Mets did not need money or all-stars to thrive, they just needed each other and the drive to win. Johan displayed last night and you could see it in every of the players on the Mets faces’. This is a team hungry to win, a team united, and a team ready to make history. Johan has the ball rolling throwing the first no-hitter in Met history and has now etched his name in Mets history as one of the greatest pitchers to put on a Met uniform. 8,020 games, 134 pitches, and no hits later, Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, Nolan Ryan, meet Johan Santana, the first Met pitcher to throw a no-hitter.

So its official.

Yesterday, the Denver Broncos introduced Peyton Manning as their new starting quarterback for 5 years and will pay Manning $96 million over the course of those five years.

Great signing? Yes.

It’s a great signing because the Broncos have a high-profile quarterback who they know will pass the ball, move the ball, and not only rely on Matt Prater’s magical foot to propel them game after game after game. The Broncos now are a legitimate threat in the AFC West and are the favorites to repeat as AFC West champions.

Risky signing? Yes.

The reason Manning’s arrival to Denver is risky is because of no playing time in the past year. Now, it might not be a problem for a quarterback with the caliber of Peyton Manning. Tom Brady was out for a year and when he returned the next season, he did not lose a step. However, Tom Brady is younger than Peyton Manning.

Aside from that, history is on Peyton Manning’s side. Just look at his new boss, John Elway. Elway led the Broncos to 2 Super Bowl wins at 38 and 39. If there is any proof that age is really just a number, Manning just has to schedule an appointment with his boss.

The only validation to Manning’s arrival will come in the regular season. WIN WIN WIN.

What does this mean for Tim Tebow?

New York Jets maybe? Unlikely given the Jets have extended Mark Sanchez’ contract and Tebow would want money considering unlike the Jets, Tebow was actually in the playoffs last year. But the Jets have entered the hunt for Tebow even though Miami would be a better fit for Tim Tebow. With all the conundrum that has occured in the Jets locker room, not even Tebow could fix it.

Miami seems the best fit for Tim Tebow and I do not think Tebow would have anything against going back to Florida, the state where TebowMania began.

Tebow is gone. Manning has arrived. The Denver Broncos have legitimized themselves as contenders with signing Manning. Only time will tell if the decision was the right one.

So, after a rather long hiatus from doing what I love, I’m back! Back to share with you my thoughts and opinions on the biggest sport stories. Back to hear your thoughts and opinions. Back to continue doing what I love.

Okay enough of the “Backs” and sappiness, its a sports column, not a vent session, although everything I stated is valid.

Yes Walsh 121, That’s Valid. (Insider)

So let’s see what has happened since I have been gone.

Mets settle on the Madoff case. Jets extend Mark Sanchez’ contract. Mike D’Antoni resigns from the Knicks. Duke loses to Lehigh in the first round of the NCAA Tourney. Peyton Manning signs with the Denver Broncos.

Wait, excuse me?

Peyton Manning signs with the Denver Broncos?

Readers, get ready for the next column, because I will be dissecting Peyton’s decision to move to Denver, what this means for Tim Tebow, and my insight on this subject.

No introduction. Just straight out rant right now so sit tight.

What occurred last night in Miami was predicted. The Miami Heat defeated The New York Knicks.

What was every expert expecting? A blowout. A 102-88 game on the scoreboard does not sound like a blowout when you hear it. I will admit I did not watch the game as I was busy working my night job, but I wake up after a long and stressful week and what do I hear?

Jeremy Lin has been EXPOSED.

Jeremy Lin was LINTIMIDATED.

Jeremy Lin went up against LeBron James, who is arguably the best pro basketball player today, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and the defending Eastern Conference Champions. If you think Jeremy Lin would own those three players who are the depth of the Miami Heat, you are either a very loyal fan or very crazy.

Now, I believe in Linsanity, I believe in Jeremy Lin. He could have easily just kicked himself to the curb after not being drafted and not given the playing time he deserved, but he kept working hard is now the phenomenon of the NBA since LeBron. Last night, Jeremy Lin does what all rookie starters do in a big game, bright lights situation and you cannot assume that he wouldn’t have a game like he did last night.

He is human, but a gifted human. He is gifted with the talent to play basketball, to play in New York, to play along side Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire, to bring a team from the cellar to the pedestal. Jeremy Lin is not Tim Tebow. Jeremy Lin is Jeremy Lin.

All NBA superstars go through these nights. Michael Jordan did. Kobe Bryant did. Even the man Jeremy Lin faced last night, LeBron James did. So for everyone to immediately attack Lin after praising him is ludicrous and immature. As Carmelo Anthony stated, “it’s a learning experience.” Life is a learning experience and basketball is no different.

LINSANITY has taken center stage on Broadway

Well..a few blocks away from Broadway actually, it is taking place in Madison Square Garden but it could be a great Broadway production.

For the past few weeks, the talk has been about NBA’s newest sensation since LeBron, Jeremy Lin.

A lot of people have asked me, what is so great about Linsanity, has he provided more of an impact than Ewing to the Knicks or Jordan to the NBA?

Not yet.

What makes the Jeremy Lin story great is he was not looked at all. He was just another benchwarmer, waiting for his 5 sec of fame when the team is either ahead or being destroyed. He was a smart student and no top ranked college was recruiting him heavily except for Harvard. UCLA and Stanford wanted Lin to walk on! As one of my good friends mentioned when Jeremy Lin faced off against Boston College while he was in Harvard “He Killed Us!” Linsanity was taking place in Harvard before he reached the stardom he has now.  Before that, Linsanity began in Palo Alto, California, where Lin led Palo Alto high school to a 32-1 record his senior year!

And he was undrafted and not being recruited?

Yes. But I digress.

Lin was All-Ivy League First Team, one of the top 12 most versatile players according to Fran Fraschilla, and the first player in Ivy League history to record at least 1,450 points (1,483), 450 rebounds (487), 400 assists (406) and 200 steals (225).

Let me reiterate, he was undrafted. Why? Beats me.

Now, he is with The New York Knicks, playing in the most famous arena Madison Square Garden with the most famous fans and he is running with it.

Why is it so shocking, look at his stats!

Linsanity did not happen overnight, it has been brewing until the right moment, when the lights were on bright and a team was at its worst. Jeremy Lin has saved the Knicks just like Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire did last year. And who was the man who gave Lin his shot to prove himself and cause the floodgates of Linsanity to open?

Carmelo Anthony.

The same man who everyone is saying will ruin the Knicks improbable run. The same man who will want the spotlight for himself and not on Jeremy Lin.

Folks, the Knicks are 8-1 without Carmelo Anthony, imagine with him. Carmelo lifted the New York Knicks to the playoffs last year and with Jeremy Lin taking some of that pressure off, Carmelo can just play the game he loves without worrying of being the premium piece to the lineup. Carmelo will make the team better. Jeremy Lin has proven people wrong with his play. Why don’t the same people believe Carmelo can do the same thing?

And look at the supporting cas for Melo and Lin !

JR Smith, Amare Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, Iman Shumpert, Steve Novak, Landry Fields, Jared Jeffries

Yes. Jared Jeffries has become better with the appearance of Jeremy Lin solidifying a spot on the supporting cast

The New York Knicks just defeated the defending NBA Champs, The Dallas Mavericks. If that is not an indication what is coming for New York, I do not know what will.

Actually that’s a lie. A LIN against The Miami Heat will do.

OK, Patriot fans, do not immediately close this article or be in up in arms ready to find out my hidden location, or ready to just say SHUT UP PATS ARE GOING TO WIN!

I go to school in Boston and I’m sick of hearing, Patriots will win and the reasons behind it

They want revenge.

Tom Brady with Gronk and Hernandez.

The Patriots are the best team in the NFL.

I have not gotten a definitive reason why The Patriots will win, but that is why I LOVE SPORTS SO MUCH BECAUSE OF THE EXCITEMENT IT CREATES! And also why I do what I do and have a discussion about these topics with my fellow scholars.

Do I think The Patriots are the best team in the NFL? No.

Do I think The New York Giants are the best team in NFL? No.

Neither of the teams in the Super Bowl were the best team in NFL, but here they are. The lights are on bright in the house that Peyton built where The Giants and The Patriots are going to battle it out for The Lombardi Trophy.

Lets take a look at the roads each team took to get here

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS.

The Patriots had a first round bye and faced Tim Tebow and The Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs. There was zero Tebowing done that night, as Tom Brady picked apart The Broncos defense and The Patriots brought it to Tim Tebow that night to score a convincing 45-10 victory. Tom Brady threw for 6 touchdowns, tying the NFL record for most touchdowns in a postseason game.

The Patriots then went to fly with The Baltimore Ravens at Gilette Stadium where it was a war zone. You had The New England offense vs The Baltimore Defense and  at one point, it looked that The Ravens had The Patriots beat. That is until Lee Evans dropped the ball as he was coming down for a touchdown and Billy Cundiff missed a field goal to send it into overtime, giving The Patriots a 23-20 victory. Tom Brady did not have his best game as he threw for no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His only highlight was a leaping 1 yard touchdown to give The Patriots the lead in the 4th quarter that ended up being the game winning touchdown. BenJarvus Green-Ellis scored a touchdown and the remaining eleven points were from Stephen Gostkowski’s foot. Joe Flacco was the top peformer of that game and if you really look at it, The Baltimore Ravens lost the game. The Patriots did not beat The Baltimore Ravens. But I digress…

THE NEW YORK GIANTS

The New York Giants had a harder road to travel. First, they had to defeat The Dallas Cowboys to earn a NFC Playoff berth, which they did.

Then, they did not have the luxury of a first round bye like The New England Patriots so in the first round, The Giants faced The Atlanta Falcons. The Giants held The Atlanta Falcons to ZERO, let me reiterate, ZERO touchdowns. The Falcons only score was a safety. The Giants won that game 24-2 with Eli Manning throwing for 3 touchdowns for 277 yards.

The Giants went then to the Divisional round where they faced the number one team in the NFL (not the Patriots), the defending Super Bowl Champs and 15-1 Green Bay Packers. Let me say this again,

THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS WITH A 15-1 RECORD AND THE TOP TEAM IN THE NFL

The Giants went back to Lambeau Field or as the NY Post would say, Rambeau II and like in 2008, defeated The Green Bay Packers 37-20. The Giants defense were just on top of Aaron Rodgers from the get-go and caused 4 turnovers. And who again was the top performer? Eli Manning. He had 330 yards for 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. One of those touchdowns was probably the play of the playoffs with a Hail Mary completion to Hakeem Nicks for a touchdown. The Giants held Aaron Rodgers, MVP Candidate, to 264 yards for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

On to the NFC Championship game, where the 2nd best team in the NFC, The San Francisco 49ers welcomed The Giants to Candlestick Field. This game had back and forth action, off your seat feel, and a battle of who will make the costly mistake. It came down to overtime, where Kyle Williams, drops the ball on his kick return and The Giants recovered and Tynes, like in 2008, kicked The Giants to The Super Bowl. And who was your top performer? Eli Manning, throwing for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns. DISCLAIMER Eli threw 58 PASSES. Yet, understandable since The 49ers are known for their run defense, something The Patriots aren’t good on.

So here we are. New York Giants vs New England Patriots.

You make your own prediction from what I have said previously, but here is The Sports Scholars Take

The New England Patriots faced The Denver Broncos and The Baltimore Ravens. These two teams had no offensive threat. As stated previously, The Baltimore Ravens lost the game, not to The Patriots. Tom Brady had his worst game against The Ravens and The Patriots defense had trouble with The Baltimore Ravens offense, an offense not as powerful as The New York Giants offense.

The New York Giants faced The Atlanta Falcons, The Green Bay Packers, and The San Francisco 49ers. The Falcons and The Packers, two teams all about offense and great quarterbacks, like Tom Brady and The Patriots. The Giants beat them. The San Francisco 49ers had the best defense in the NFL. The Giants beat them. The New York Giants have beaten offensive teams and defensive teams. The Giants have proven they can dance with The Patriots and they have faced better teams than the Patriots in the playoffs with The Green Bay Packers and The San Francisco 49ers.

Let us not forget, The Giants and The Patriots faced off earlier this season. And who won that game? The New York Giants. Tom Brady threw for more yards than Eli Manning, but threw 2 interceptions and Eli Manning, Mr. 4th Quarter led The Giants down the field in the final minutes of that game to score a victory.

That was the game before The Giants went on a 4 game skid and after those 4 games and their dismal loss to The Redskins, The Giants have become a better team.

That was the last game The Patriots have lost so the only teams The Patriots lost to in the regular season that were in the playoffs were The Pittsburgh Steelers and their opponents this Sunday, The New York Giants. The New England Patriots are also a better team, but they are facing a better Giants team since their defeat to The Giants in Week 9.

So, why will The Giants win?

Because they are the better team. They have the consistent quarterback in the playoffs, they have had the consistent defense in the playoffs and have faced the top two teams in the NFL just to get to The Super Bowl. The Giants have a much better defense and a better running game with Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs ready to pick apart to not so great running defense of The Patriots. If Tom Brady had a rough time with The Ravens defense, it will be the same with The Giants defense with Pierre Paul and Umenyiora ready to layeth the smackdown on Tom Brady. The key for the Giants defense is to hold down Gronk and Hernandez which they can do as they have proven they can do in the playoffs. The Giants have the drive to win, they have the passion to win, they can talk the talk and walk the walk, they have proven it. They are ready for The Patriots.

So, I am going on record and saying I AM ALL IN. THE NEW YORK GIANTS WILL DEFEAT THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS AND WIN THE SUPER BOWL!

You knew something amazing took place in Lambeau Field when Hakeem Nicks caught a Hail Mary pass from Eli Manning for a touchdown to close the first half.

You also knew The New York Giants were not going to be denied victory after such a play and The Giants did not disappoint that notion. Their defense played well, forcing 3 fumbles and shutting down The Packers offense to the point where Aaron Rodgers would be the only offense as he was the rush leader in that game.

The Giants defeated the No.1 ranked team heading into the postseason. The Giants defeated MVP hopeful Aaron Rodgers. The Giants defeated the defending Super Bowl Champions.

I’ll say that again…

THE NEW YORK GIANTS DEFEATED THE DEFENDING SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!

Ever since their dismal performance against The Washington Redskins, The New York Giants have been on a blaze of glory. They defeated The New York Jets at Metlife Stadium to claim bragging rights of the home turf shared by both teams. They then defeated The Dallas Cowboys to propel them to the postseason by winning The NFC East. The Giants then defeated The Atlanta Falcons, shutting them down to no points on offense. And more recently, The Giants defeated The Green Bay Packers for a dance with The San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.

Look at that stretch! Look at the emotion and the intensity pouring out of The Giants in those games. The Giants have dug deep to find out the potential the team has, grasped that potential and have run with it. They now face the hurdle of The San Francisco 49ers, who have had a Cinderella story to say the least.

Jim Harbaugh overtook the head coach position this offseason and has propelled this team to a 13-3 regular season record and a team desiring a trip to Indianapolis. The San Francisco 49ers played a game for the ages against The New Orleans Saints and the emotion of the game poured from Vernon Davis’ eyes after his game winning touchdown. The San Francisco 49ers share the same passion and determination of The Giants. They have a tremendous defense and an explosive offense when it needs to be.

It is really like facing yourself is what The NFC Championship looks like but with all The Giants have done, do they have the edge?

The Giants have Eli Manning who is having the season of his life and playing to what he was expected of. The Giants wide receivers have been incredible. The Giants defense have been explosive on quarterbacks and have shut down top receivers and tight ends.

The Niners have Alex Smith who had a brilliant performance, probably his best, against The New Orleans Saints. The Niners wide receivers are silent but deadly with Vernon Davis leading the charge. The Niners D really needs no introduction to how well they have played the entire season.

What is comes down to is Giants vs 49ers. Forget offense vs defense, defense vs defense, offense vs offense, it is Giants vs 49ers. These two teams are on a collision course and when they collide, a game to remember will be created.

So to answer the question of if The Giants are the favorite? The answer is yes. They are the favorite to win The NFC Championship. The 49ers are the underdog and to be honest, they are okay with that.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS VS SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

It is the New Orleans Saints offense vs the San Francisco 49ers defense. The Saints have always been the offensive team and their losses have been due to the lack of offense. The 49ers have been a defensive team, relying on stopping the offense and Frank Gore rushing them down the field with Alex Smith slowing the pace down to provide a slow pace to the game. That would be the key to a 49ers win. SLOW THE GAME DOWN, STOP DREW BREES BEFORE HE STARTS GETTING HOT AND RUN YOUR OFFENSE. For the Saints, they have to hit the ground running from the first snap. The Saints are at San Francisco, providing a raucous crowd yearning to see a Super Bowl run after all they have been through in the past several seasons. So in order to catch the Niners off-guard, Drew Brees has to lead the offense down the field quickly. We saw a glimpse of a slower pace offense from the Saints and it was not working as they were down at the half. When the Saints turn it on, they are hard to beat. For the Saints defense, stop Frank Gore. You stop him, you force Alex Smith to pass and if you make sure he doesn’t lob to Michael Crabtree, you can rattle him to throw interceptions. SPEED UP THE GAME, STOP FRANK GORE, AND PRESSURE ALEX SMITH.

NEW YORK GIANTS VS GREEN BAY PACKERS

GAME TO WATCH!

Okay, so I know last week I made all the games The Game to Watch, but this week, the most anticipated game is GMEN vs Pack. I know Tebowmania is up in arms right now, but I don’t see Tebow beating the Patriots. If you want a game that can go either way and bring as much electricity as Tim Tebow, the Giants vs the Packers is the game. Aaron Rodgers vs Eli Manning. Clay Matthews vs Jason Pierre Paul. Packers wide receivers vs Giants wide receivers. You get the gist. It is an even sided game and in their first game, both teams were at a stalemate and it took a field goal for the Packers to escape with a victory. This game will be no different as each team has been talking smack the entire week to each other. Time for talk is over, I’m going to say THE NEW YORK GIANTS PREVAIL AGAINST THE GREEN BAY PACKERS! This is not my bias fan side, this is Mr. S saying this. The Giants have the momentum. The Giants have a defense ready to rip apart Aaron Rodgers and a defense that is famous for stopping high profile quarterbacks a la Tom Brady in Super Bowl XLII. Eli Manning has been phenomenal and the wide receivers have a real swagger heading in to Lambeau Field. It will be a great game to watch and my money is on New York’s GMEN to defeat the Green Bay Packers

Wild Card is done, now on to see who will battle in the AFC Championship and the NFC Championship. It will be a weekend you will not want to miss. Tom Brady and the Patriots to shut up Tebowmania again for a spot in the AFC Championship that has eluded them for the past two years. Drew Brees and the Saints will try to make the clock strike midnight on the Cinderella story San Francisco 49ers. Joe Flacco and the Ravens will try to put a stop to Arian Foster and the Houston Texans. Eli Manning will try to prove his only Super Bowl victory was no fluke as he looks to eliminate the 15-1 Packers led by Aaron Rodgers and their explosive offense. It is hard to determine winners because by the looks of the card, it just seems that it can go either way for each game. But in the end, there’s must be picks made and Mr. S has the picks to who will win each game.

DENVER BRONCOS VS NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Tim Tebow surprised us all last week with the best performance of his career against the Steelers, propelling the Broncos to a rematch with the Patriots. In Broncos vs Patriots I, the Broncos showed some signs of upsetting the Patriots in the first half, but with a few mistakes by Tebow, the Patriots capitalized and smoked the Broncos. I watched this game and this game is what put Tim Tebow in a little funk and sent the Broncos into a skid that barely got them to the playoffs. Now its different. Tim Tebow led his Broncos over the Pittsburgh Steelers by “pulling the trigger.” Can he pull the trigger this week? In order for that to happen, Tebow cannot make the same mistakes he did against the Patriots. Balance the offense. Break through the Patriots secondary and utlilize McGahee against the weak run defense of the Patriots. But Tebow cannot try to pass too much as he did against the Patriots in their previous meeting. Tom Brady and the Patriots must do the same thing they did before. Make no mistakes. The Broncos are an unpredictable team so the Patriots cannot commit a mistake. Tom Brady has the consistency, the experience, the swagger, and the drive to get to the AFC Championship game.

ADVANTAGE: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

HOUSTON TEXANS VS BALTIMORE RAVENS

TJ Yates a` d the Texans soundly defeated the Bengals last week and provided a more resounding sound with their running game and especially their defensive game. Going to Baltimore, a Ravens team huge on defense and a Ravens crowd huge on rattling the opposition, the Texans must bring their A game. Houston has to try to help on the defensive side as they did against the Bengals. When the defense helps, the offense responds so in order for TJ Yates to have a shot against the Ravens defense, Texans’ D has to bring the same intensity and play making. The Ravens have to make sure they come out pressuring TJ Yates to make the rookie quarterback uncomfortable and allow the strong Ravens defense to swallow up the Texans. The Ravens stop TJ Yates, the put the ball in the hands of Arian Foster who they can definitely stop with their run defense.

ADVANTAGE: BALTIMORE RAVENS
